Zamparas Plays the Royal Ebony Piano
About the Black Ebony Piano Case
Justin Elliott, co-owner of Classic Piano Shoppe Inc., has always admired design of piano art cases. With a love for a more modern style, he decided to design an art case. After many different drawings and conceptual designs, a finalized decision was made to build what would be known as "The Royal Ebony."
Gary Baldassari (an esteemed audio engineer) was one of the first to hear about our musical innovation. He was sent some photos with a brief explanation of how the Royal Ebony was constructed, and immediately thought that it could have changed the tone of the piano. It was then that our journey truly began.
From that moment on, Justin continued to strive for perfection and build several prototypes of the design to enhance the piano's tone...and IT WORKED!
A recording was scheduled at the University of Tampa to measure the audible difference between The Royal Ebony and the stock Yamaha C7. Once Dr. Grigorios Zamparas(classical pianist and Assistant Professor of Music & Overseer of the piano program at the University of Tampa) started to play on the Royal Ebony design, he was surprised with the immediate difference that could be heard and felt in the action alone.
First, the Royal Ebony design would be recorded. Then, the same piano (Yamaha C7) would be recorded with its original factory design. Nothing was to be mastered or mixed, and both designs were to be recorded with the same exact settings. We wanted to hear only the raw sound of both designs. Dr. Zamparas would play the same piece of music in the same way, feel, and tempo.
